Automated Linear Indexing System

The Automated Linear Indexing System (ALIS) is Stable Micro Systems' most comprehensive automation solution, allowing multiple samples to be loaded and tested sequentially with minimal operator involvement – true "walk-away" testing.

Samples are mounted in bespoke support plates, and the system integrates seamlessly with the TA.XTplusC Texture Analyser. The ALIS is available in two platform lengths – 250mm and 600mm – and operates in two modes: the platform can pause at each sample position for discrete testing, or move continuously at the same speed as the instrument arm, making it particularly well suited to peel testing applications.

All configuration is handled through Exponent Connect software, which provides a project-based environment for defining test parameters such as speed, degree of deformation and data acquisition rate. A dedicated Batch Testing window enables multiple testing protocols for regularly or irregularly spaced samples, and customisable operator prompts can be configured to provide warnings or instructions at any stage.

Barcode Scanner

A USB Barcode Scanner can be connected directly to your PC to read product barcodes and automatically select the correct test project – no manual searching, no risk of the wrong protocol being applied. This simple addition reduces operator error and speeds up sample changeover, making it especially useful in busy QC environments where multiple products are tested in a single session.

Remote Switch

The foot-operated, user programmable Remote Switch allows operators to trigger tests without being at the PC – useful when the instrument and workstation are positioned apart, or when hands need to remain free for sample handling. It connects via USB and can be configured to replicate any chosen keystroke combination, with an operating range of up to 2.5 metres.

Batch Testing in Exponent Connect

Even without the ALIS hardware, the Batch Testing window within Exponent Connect software opens up meaningful automation through the ability to design and run multi-sample testing protocols from within the software itself. Customisable operator prompts keep the process structured and reduce the likelihood of errors, while the project-based environment ensures test parameters are saved, repeatable and audit-ready.
