Personal Care Products Testing

Toothpaste Extrusion Rig
This imitative test indicates the
ease of extrusion of toothpaste
as a result of e.g. the product
formulation or the extrusion
temperature.

Adhesive Bandage
Peel Strength
This test is very important for the
determination of the comparative
peeling or stripping characteristics
of adhesive bonds.

Conical/Cylinder probes
Can be used to assess hardness
of e.g. soap, deodorant.

Personal Care Products Testing

Back/Forward Extrusion Cells
Can be used to assess
consistency/extrudability of
e.g. cream, pastes.

Tube/Sachet Extrusion Rig
Allows manufacturers to measure
the ease of removal and application
of products such as sauces, pastes, creams and gels.

Compression Probes
Allow the hardness assessment
of e.g. contact lenses.

Personal Care Products Testing

Film Support Rig
This rig allows testing of thin, film-
like products to measure the burst
strength, resilience and
relaxation properties.

Penetration Tests
Hemispherical probes imitate
a finger.

Actuation Force Testing
allows measurement of the force
required to release hair fixatives
from aerosols, soap/cream
from dispensers.

Personal Care Products Testing

Needle penetration
Can be used to assess hardness
of soap, deodorant.

Hair Combing Rig
(Registered Design)
Enables the comb to be disengaged
at the end of each combing stroke
for realistic assessment of hair

Application Studies are available for the testing of personal care products using the TA.XT2i, TA.XTplus, TA.XTExpress  or TA.HDplus texture analysers.

In addition, scientific papers have been published which reference the use of the TA.XT2i/TA.XTplus/
TA.HDplus in the testing of personal care products.
